From the Atlantic to the Pacific, and right here in our home waters of Idaho, wild steelhead and salmon are fighting a losing battle against a stacked deck. Dammed rivers, warming waters, overfishing, and choked-out habitats have turned their ancient spawning runs into an obstacle course they can barely survive. Fewer fish are making it home. The rivers are getting quieter, and the entire ecosystem is feeling the ache.

As a lifelong fishing guide, our founder Riley Berman didn't just read about this crisis in a report—he’s watched it happen in real-time from the bow of a drift boat.

We’re small now. But our fight is big.

Steely Zips was born out of a love for these wild spaces, and we refuse to stand by and watch them disappear. Right now, we’re a small, independent crew. But as we grow, our mission grows with us.

Our ultimate goal is to scale our business so we can scale our impact. We are building Steely Zips to be a vehicle for real change—funneling resources, funding, and boots-on-the-ground support directly to the river conservation groups and habitat restoration teams fighting on the front lines.
